Sang Run Room

We spent last weekend in Maryland on a romantic getaway at Lake Pointe Inn to celebrate our anniversary. This hotel on Deep Creek Lake is lovely - they really spared no expense on the renovation. We enjoyed the hotel grounds very much - there are several private little areas you can sit and watch the day go by or common areas where you can chat with the other guests. There is a lot to do at this Deep Creek Lake hotel. Kayaks and canoes are available, as are snacks, beer, wine, and sodas all day, and the hotel owners will take you out on their pontoon boat in the evening, or you can swim off their pier. The room was clean and comfy— good bed. This place is really the best of both worlds - I don't really care for B&Bs much as I live in a 100 year old house, and I usually feel like I'm in my house, but with people I don't know, and no privacy. This B&B is much more like a boutique hotel, though. We were in the Sang Run room, which was not near any other room, and there was a staircase right nearby that went down to the parking area, so we could have successfully avoided all other guests, and mostly did! The Sang Run room has a romantic view of Wisp ski resort, a whirlpool tub, and a gas fireplace. I enjoyed the tub very much. Hubby would have preferred a view of Deep Creek Lake and the balcony that some of the other rooms had. We spent time exploring Swallow Falls State Park nearby, and only ate out once, at the Santa Fe Grill nearby in McHenry, which was just okay. I get the impression that there are not many nice places to eat nearby, but we did not spend much time looking. One night we just made dinner from the hot hors d'oeuvres and chocolate chip cookies the hotel owners put out at cocktail hour. Kids under 16 are not allowed at the hotel. I have kids and love to spend time with them, but a romantic getaway is good too. And this is a great place for it.
